 | United States-European Union Sign Energy Security, Climate Change Statement April 30, 2007 – U.S. President George Bush, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso have signed a joint statement on energy security and climate change. The statement states that the United States and European Union will work together to broaden and reinforce their activities to improve energy security and reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions while supporting economic growth.
