September 2, 2010 – The best way to track the current hurricane activity in the Atlantic Ocean is to link to the National Hurricane Center.  The Center has various maps charting the hurricanes as well as updates throughout the day on where the hurricanes are headed.

July 27, 2010 – Swiss Re and the Alabama State Insurance Fund have signed an historic three-year agreement where the reinsurer will provide parametric insurance cover for the SIF’s primary catastrophic hurricane exposure. Parametric solutions compensate the buyer based on the physical characteristics of a disaster.
